I was always impressed that Japan was the first country to have a full-time graphic design critic. Katzumie Masaru was a pioneer and a source of encouragement and inspiration to me and my colleagues.

This project is the digital archive design for the Katzumie Masaru Collection at the Art Archives Center of Tama Art University. The Katzumie Masaru Collection is a vast amount of materials left behind by Katzumie Masaru and now stored at the Art Archives Center of Tama Art University. This digital archive is innovative because it has two functions: the educational function and the research function. Through this archive, users are possible to know Katzumie Masaru, including his personality, his concept, and his design philosophy. The database can further support educational function rather than being a searching engine.
